This boot is hotness! The goat hair might need periodic combing to keep it shiny, silky, and lustrous. F/W 2010. $925 at Bergdorf Goodman.

Dust Off Your Knuckle Dusters

Posted in Amusing, Design, Gadgets / Gear, Structure & Form by Michelle on September 8, 2010

If you’re a peace-loving hippie at heart but want to state, for a fact, that you’re pretty badass, then this post is for you. Are you non-confrontational but want to remind to your co-worker who is two weeks late on that $5 you lent him for lotto tickets? Yeah, you remember. Then this is just what you’re looking for. Simple ways get to your targets or just to make a point, subliminally and in some ways more obvious. Dust off those knuckle duster and repeat, “don’t mess with me.”

Donny Nguyen Sketches

Posted in Art, People by Michelle on September 6, 2010

I came across this amazing Albatross sketch the other day by Donny Nguyen when I was researching The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Visit his blog at [ donny draws ]. This is exactly the reason why I started this blog – so that whatever I find interesting, I don’t have to forget.

Here’s another sketch he made of one of the most awesome bands everrrr…. Crystal Castles!

His drawings are evidently oozing of talent. As in the words of Rachel Zoe, “I love.”

Tamlin & The Fall

Never heard of this maker before but I’m digging their stuff. Would you buy any of these if you had the money? At least it’s made to order. They’re all lined with matte black American Alligator and signed – you don’t see this much anymore now that we mostly purchase mass-produced.

Harry Clarke

Pen and ink are amazing mediums and two of my favorites to experience. And Harry Clarke shows off their assets to the fullest. His illustrations have a consistent gothic quality which makes them so facinating. I really want a tattoo by him, just don’t know what it will be. They’re all beautiful.

Lanvin x H&M

Posted in Events, Fashion, Shopping by Michelle on September 2, 2010

Are you  f*****g kidding me? Whoa. Just. Whoa. I’ll have to put this on my calender. Or on my wall – in neon yellow posterboard. November 20th!!

From Style.com :

Rumored yesterday, confirmed today, the latest designers to collaborate with H&M will be Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz and Lucas Ossendrijver. “I have said in the past that I would never do a mass-market collection, but what intrigued me was the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going public. This has been an exceptional exercise, where two companies at opposite poles can work together because we share the same philosophy of bringing joy and beauty to men and women around the world,” Elbaz said in a release this morning. The collections—both womenswear and menswear—will hit 200 stores worldwide beginning on November 20 in the United States. The collection will be revealed in a short film released November 2. More as we get it.

Vivienne Tam Edition HP mini

Posted in Design, Fashion, Gadgets / Gear by Michelle on September 2, 2010

I went to B&H Photo and Video to do some research. Recently, I’ve been really wanting a PC netbook. I’m a MacBook user but it’s a bit  heavy. I’m too lazy to lug it around with me – to the living room that is… among other places. At the moment, Apple does not offer a cute little netbook, which is such a bummer. So, I figure that a PC netbook is my best bet. I’ve been researching for weeks on best battery life, processor speed, webcam, video quality, etc. Then, I came upon the Vivienne Tam HP mini and its’ specs sheet…

– 2 gHz… uh-huh.
– 2 Gb Ram… oooooo, nice.
– 250 Gb memory… just what I need.
– 3-cell battery… eh, I can always replace that, I guess.
– Matching Vivienne Tam sleeve… perfect!

I looked around. The specs looked great against the basic HP minis. I stood there for a very long time, playing around with it. Examining. Everytime I walked away and tried other netbooks, I always came back to the Vivienne Tam HP mini. Despite my aversion to butterflies, I was convinced that I had to buy this adorable netbook. I think it was the well-designed gold keyboard that did it for me. I’m kind’ve in love with gold machinery. Just read my previous posts. And the mini is so streamlined and pleasing to the eye, reminiscent to Apple’s product designs – something that I don’t want to give up.

I really miss the Mac OS X, though. I downloaded Safari, iTunes, and Quicktime through Apple’s website. It totally helps. I used Internet Explorer for the first 10 min and just looking at it gave me anxiety – way too much going on. I uninstalled some preloaded programs for the same reason…  But, overall I’m definitely enjoying my pretty new toy.
